You know how much I love that e-trade baby. Well, Jill has been cutting it up like no other this last little while. I see a future for her in real estate.

Jill's 4 easy steps for perfect bean selection

This week we jarred 40 quarts of green beans. (We have another 40 still in the garden waiting to be picked if anyone is interested.)
Jill, our quality check specialist understood and preformed her job very thoroughly. Here are Jill's 4 easy steps for perfect bean selection:

Step 1:

Grab a handful of beans (no fewer that three or four).

Step 2:

Carefully examine each bean for any signs of age, over growth, or decay.

Step 3:

Test a few for taste. (This is a very important step. At least half of the beans are guaranteed to be fresh and crisp if you taste test along the way.)

And Step 4:

Discard any beans that don't meet the highest standard for quality.

There you have it. Now, go can your beans with speed and confidence If you need a quality check specialist, Jill works for $20 or one bunch of bananas an hour.

Since last we met . . .

So it's been a while, and the Team has had a few adventures since the last time I posted.
* We took a trip to Provo to celebrate Matt's sister's graduation and meet our new cousin Seth.
* We made a table cloth. (Jill and I. And Matt admired our fine work.)
* We started reading Middlemarch by George Elliot. Really I started reading Middlemarch, but because I'm listening to the audio book, everyone gets a chance to hear it from time to time.
* Jill learned to sit up on her own, how to fold her arms, and how to "sing" during the quiet moments in church.
* We took a trip to Texas to visit family and celebrate my brother's graduation.
* We went to some parties.
* We celebrated mother's day.
* We tried making new foods.
* I knitted a few things.
* We planted our garden.
* Matt started playing league soccer. Just a little warm up for the FIFA World cup this summer.

Just a few things. Hopefully I'll get some pictures up before too long.

Things We Love

Jill is 5 months old now, and she's becoming very particular about what she loves and what she doesn't. And as everyone knows, what she loves is what we love . . .

We love to read the newspaper, especially the Sunday ads.

We love fruit.

Or maybe it's the spoons. We LOVE spoons.

We love to do laundry.

Or maybe not.

It's to early to tell how committed we are to the family business.

All Smiles

Jill has been very social lately. Last Sunday she couldn't stop smiling at the gal who sat next to me in Relief Society.

We've been trying for weeks to catch her in action. I finally did!

What I've been working on

Once I told my grandma I was bored. She said, "That's silly. I've never been bored a day in my life." I'd like to someday meet my grandmother at 12-years-old and ask her if that is true, but in the mean time, here's what I've been upto.

One white sweater, baby-side, because I don't have the patience to do more. This is the part where I get to sew the pieces together.

Day four of my sourdough bread project.This bread took a week and ten hours to make. It's a good thing I have plenty of time. Matt told me this morning that it tasted like it was worth it.

So, holiday updates are a little late, but, not as late as last year.

Whose Feet . . .

Great job everyone. Give yourselves a pat on the back if you knew that foot A belongs to Jill. Give yourselves an extra pat if you knew good looking foot B belongs to my good looking husband, and that foot C belongs to me. I've known my whole life that lime green was not my color; I don't know why I chose it as a background.


Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Our computer died right before Christmas. We just got a new one. I love it!

One of these things is not like the others

Let's play the foot game. After the usual hight and weight statictics, the first thing my mom asked was "Who's feet does she have?"
Funny questions, but totally my family's style.

10 Below and Ready to Go

Or . . . how we dress in the winter up north.

First you start with a long sleved onsie. I like this one with mitten hands, just in case I forget her other mittens.

Then you add long pants and socks. The pants don't have to be too long. Let's face it, 20 inches doesn't leave you much to cover. Thanks Aunt Debbie for these super cute butterfly pants.



Then you add the fleese suit. Almost all Jills cloths are pink and lime green, so it's easy to match.

Last, and most important, one cute hat!

Okay Mama, we're ready to roll.

First Friend

Thank you my friend Heather for this fun friend. I thought he was a horse, but he's a giraffe. Best of all, he plays music.

First Sewing Lessons

Sewing days are fun. Last week I got a project done that had been sitting in my closet for the past 9 months.

Thanks to the Milloway Family, Jill sews right along with me in this beautiful ring sling.

See - she's already a pro at sleeping through her lessons.

Cuty Pants

Oh my goodness. I love baby jeans. Thanks Aunt Becca for sending these way took cute blue jeans to keep us warm on winter days.

Jill's First Movie

I have to start by saying, I haven't read any of the Twilight Saga all the way through. As a librarian I had lots of opportunities to skim, read reviews, and talk to everyone about them. I know the whole storyline, but don't care to actually read the entire series.

Now, the movies on the other hand, I find very entertaining.

So entertaining that when my friend invited me to see New Moon, I couldn't pass her up. So three of us (and Jill, she made four) went to the late show.

The lady in front of us was a little annoyed by the noise we were making. But Jill wasn't the problem. We were just discussing who was cuter, Edward or Jacob.

Jill wasn't impressed though. She slept through the whole thing, except the wolf fights. Those scared her a little.

Super Dad!

Matt is a super dad! Especially when he sings to baby Jill. Yesterday I heard him singing as he rocked her to sleep. You all know this old favorite:

Rock-a-bye baby in the tree top.
When the wind blows the cradle will rock.
When the bough breaks the cradle will fall . . .

but you might not be familiar with the last line, which Matt assured me is part of the original "daddy version" of the song:

But Daddy will catching you and your cradle and save the day!

One Month

Jill turned one month old today! We can't believe it . . . time flies when you're having fun.
