Re-arranging

This week for Family Night, Matt and I did some re-arraning. We shuffed things around in the computer room/study/spare bedroom/sewing room/nursery in order to fit in yet another piece of furnature, a dresser for Jill's cloths and supplies.

That will be nice, but the real reason for the change is actully this . . .

Surprisingly, the CR/S/SBR/SR/N looks better and more open (all be it, fuller) in the new arrangement. I'm pleased with how it turned out, and with how pacient my wonderful husband was with me as we moved and removed different things. AND I'm pleased as punch to have enough drawer space in our room for all my love's t-shirts.

My Brother-In-Law

I have many, but the one I'm referring to today is Allen. You see, today is Allen's birthday.

Dear Clair-e-bell,

When I came to Grandma Jackson's House to visit last fall, you were there. You were small then, but your eyes were very bright and full of understanding. You knew I was having a little baby girl, and that when you finally get a chance to meet in person, you two will be best friends.

Now you are much older. Practically a lady. Happy Birthday, Clair-e-bell. I hope you like these books.

Lemon Chicken

I found it!!!

Here is the lovely link for this luscious lemon chicken.

I like it for the following reasons:

1) It has a spicy kick, but it's not too spicy.
2) It's so easy to make.
3) It doesn't include instant lemon pudding mix.
4) I bet you all the ingredient are in your house right now.
5) I bet you can change the ingredient a little to make this any flavor of chicken you want.

Things I changed:

1) I didn't have lemons, so I just used lemon juice.
2) I didn't have coconut oil (but I wish I did). Instead, I used canola oil and then poured coconut milk on top as the chicken cooked.
3) I had rice vinegar, but I think you could use regular vinegar and add a little bit of sugar. Next time, I'm going to use a little less than the recipe calls for. Mine came out a little on the vinegary side. But it was still very good.

Does any one else hear that name and immediately hear Ben-Folds 5 in your head as well?

Last year Kate was 8.

That means this year Kate is 9.

That doesn't rhyme quite as well as last year's story, but I'm sure it will be a fabulous year just the same. How can it not be for a girl like KATE!

Oh Kate. Have you read this one yet?

The Fairy Rebel by Lynne Reid Banks. I loved this book when I was 9. In fact, it was the only book I wanted to read.

Scissors

Between Matt and I, we have about 8 pair of scissors. (On a good day, there are no scissors between us.) We live in a 2 bedroom, 1&1/2 bath apartment.. You'd think with so many scissors and so little space, we'd always be able to find a pair. But alas, when I have something to cut out, the only scissors I find handy are my sewing scissors. That pair seems to be the most available at any given time in any given room. Good thing my mother taught me better than that, and I am morally against using sewing scissors for anything besides sewing.

I think most of them are in the kitchen . . . don't ask me why.
