7 Days Until Christmas

Music is our favorite thing around here. We love Christmas Music in July, but we try not to spread it around until December. Here is a new song that I think is lovely.

8 Days Until Christmas

What is Christmas without a little story telling. If you don't have anyone to read to you this season, here are some audiobooks. The Christmas Carol  by Charles Dickens and The Mansion by Henry Van Dyke. Both wonderful Christmas Time Classics.

9 Days Until Christmas

Christmas is coming, and things are getting busier. I love this gentle reminder about the Reason Behind Christmas.

10 Days Until Christmas

Are you ready for a Christ-centered Christmas craft? We sure are. Jill was inspired by a picture of a little girl painting the backdrop for the Nativity Scene. So we made this simple nativity silhouette to paint. My girls loved painting right on the picture, but you might like to try paining the backdrop, letting it dry, then drawing the nativity on top. Feel free to straighten the star.

11 Days til Christmas

Have you seen this

This picture is one of many new Christmas themed wallpapers The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints offers for your device this Holiday Season. There are many more and they are all very nice. I'm sure you can find one that will fit your feelings for the next 11 days.

12 Days Until Christmas

At our house we say, "11 more sleeps till Christmas." Does anyone know what that's from? Our December has been filled with lots of other things, mostly home renovations due to be finished before the New Year. That also includes new found allergies from construction dust, misplaced furniture, and power tools out where Christmas decorations should be.

It's different, but we are trying to focus our attention on the reason for the season and not the stuff that makes it merry and bright. So, to kick off our 12 days of Christmas, here is a little clip from a movie that we love and watch every year (not always at Christmas time.)

December's First Snow

I know it's been a while. We've had a busy Fall

 picking apples,

 developing our musical talents

and hiding in trees.

But the Fall is decidedly over and we are ready for winter. Here is a poem we found and love and would like to share in honor of the new snow we received this morning. Happy Winter everyone.

First Snow
by Marie Louise Allen

Snow makes whiteness where it falls.
The bushes look like popcorn-balls.
And places where I always play,
Look like somewhere else today.
