The Tree and the Truck

We went on an adventure!

We came home with a pickup truck to help us with the yard and house this next year.
Then we went on another adventure and came home with a Christmas Tree.

Doesn't Matt look like he belongs behind the wheel of a truck?

Being Three

There have been some small changes in our life since Jill's 3rd birthday. She seems to ask more questions, really thoughtful ones that don't start and end with, "Why?" She acts things out more, and she is determined to be grown up, whether that mean she is more helpful or not.

She has become surprisingly aware of her relationship to other people. She might know your names by the time we see all of you again. She studies the family pictures like there's going to be a test.

Oh what a difference a year makes!

Baths

Did I mention that M.E. loves baths. LOVES them. I don't think any of us realized how much she loved them until the other night when she jumped back in.

Pockets

MaryEllen won't wear pants unless I convince her that they offer some special benefit to her, besides the obvious. This summer I had her convinced that pants helped her bounce better.

She was on to me, so I showed her the value of pockets. Very important you know. Now, she will gladly wear any pair of pants with pockets.
In this picture she had a hard time getting onto her bike because she wouldn't take her hands out of her pockets. She's a thinker!!!
And check out this smile. She makes it every time I get out the camera.

Catching up: Happy Halloween

This year for Halloween the girls wanted to be fairies. So that's what they were.
Matt and I were Peter Pan and Wendy, and we were darn cute, but I forgot to ask someone to take our picture.

Jill had the most fun being a fairy, even though her wings broke before Halloween even started. I asked her if she wanted to wear green and be Tinker Bell and she basically said No Way and wore all pink instead. She really wanted to wear her purple Pj's with Areal on them, but I nixed that idea. Pink was actually a really great compromise. She's 3 now and unwilling to let me dress her, especially for important public events like Trick-or-Treat.

Giving Thanks

Today, I am thankful for a new baby that sometimes sleeps through the night. For little helpers that love to bring me things like diapers and can tell me exactly what they need. And for a loving husband who understands when I'm too tired to wash the dishes or fold the laundry.

Today, I'm thankful that dinner is not going to be at my house, and that my kids are happy with cold cereal and bananas for breakfast. And I'm thankful for sisters in Texas who know how to help me feel right at home when I'm so many miles away. Ah, the first gift of the season!!!

Thank you Becca!!! I've never tasted better Pecans, and I'm so very excited to make a pie today.
